Jake headed down to one of the conference rooms on the lower floors, where his team would assemble to be briefed on their latest mission. As he strolled down the corridor, he thought about the letter. The shabby little letter that had been placed on his desk by his secretary but had traveled form who knows where to reach him. he had never met the Doctor personally, only heard about him. The mysterious figure that traveled in a blue box across time and space doing battle with the evil that existed, saving the human race and innocent lives.
As he walked, he passed through the main hall. Office workers busily working on missions, tasks and the endless paper work ever needed. On the wall the crest of UNIT hung over the main reception desk. He nodded to one of the ladies behind the desk who smiled back as she was busy talking to an MP or someone in a suit. Unlike other parts of the HQ office's, the main area Jake was walking through was full of men and women in suits. The soldiers, those that got their hands dirty were usually deeper in the building. he swung left down a corridor and into a large room. Four members of his team sat around a table chatting away.
He throw the letter on the desk in front of his team who first looked at the letter and then back at Jake.
"Go on then," said a young gentleman with a cheeky smile. "Don't keep us waiting, he has called for us an't he?" He had a broad Mancunnian accent and a grin which he new won people over.
Jake poured himself a mug of coffee from the kettle and sat facing his team at the head of the table. The four members of his team comprised of Commander Kaitlin Weston, a feisty blonde haired lady with a quick wit and knowledge of UNIT, Lieutenant Stuart Logan the weapons expert younger than Jake, but wise beyond his years, Lieutenant Sarah Hunt the computer wiz and Cadet Lukas Benedict, new to the team and still not field tested. Stuart was still smiling as Kaitlin read out the letter. It was only then his smile dropped.
"Your joking!" he exclaimed. "What we on an errand for him?" Please tell me Jake this is a joke."
"Of course it an't!" Jake exclaimed.
"But we havn't seen the Doctor for over a year, he went off in his tardis and well, he simply just vanished."
Kaitlin and Sara soon joined in the conversation as the room became heated over the sudden request by the Doctor for UNIT's help. Lukas sat quietly slightly in ore of the whole thing. I doubt he knew exactly what to say or do.
"So Jake as your divine leader, what is your decision?"
"We follow his request," was the blunt answer Jake gave the team.
As Sara throw her own opinions on the table about the fact the Doctor still disappeared and has not been seen since is the letter legit or fake? Kaitlin was also concerned that this could be a hocks and with so little information to go could the letter be trusted. All the debt was worth having, but Jake reminded them all that although UNIT is not at the Doctor beck and call, he is their friends and alley and the writing did belong to him. What ever the reason for the request they had to follow it up.
"What ever is going on guys, the Doctor would not send the request unless he needed us. It is strange that we have not seen him for so long, but it's about time we did not relay on the Doctor so much, we can defend this planet what ever the universe throws at use. Be ready to leave London at 2 o'clock. If their is something going on in Cheshire we are going to find out."
